Radio network coverage now extends more than 70km across the city of Homs, helping to keep humanitarians safe while they respond to the crisis in Syria. It’s part of a country-wide initiative by Telecommunications Security Standards (TESS) and the ETC to bolster and standardize security communications across the country.

Deploying with the ETC, Senior Telecommunications Specialist Sami Alio says, "In TESS, part of our job is to make sure we leverage technology solutions to improve the overall access to security telecommunications, for all humanitarians."
