The Let's Comm Training of Trainers (TOT) course will equip participants with the ability to plan and deliver the ETC Let’s Comm training which aims to train technical staff to deploy, maintain, troubleshoot and administer radio systems with an emphasis on practical technical skills to deploy reliable radio systems. The Let’s Comm syllabus focusses on practical skills and a mindset of technical quality, testing to verify functionality and customer service. Equipment used for the training includes both ICOM and Motorola radios defined as standard equipment in the UN Security Communication Systems VHF/UHF Standards.

 

Target Audience


This training is developed for humanitarian ICT staff with telecommunications focus who will train technical staff to deploy, maintain, troubleshoot and administer a radio-based Security Communications System (SCS). Participants need to have a solid technical background in radio communications and practical experience with deploying and maintaining Motorola and/or ICOM VHF equipment. Participants must clearly be able to explain technical subjects, be confident in front of a group, and effective communicators. Experienced technical radio trainers are preferred.

Course Objective


To equip participants with the knowledge, skills, competence, and confidence to train humanitarian responders how to deploy, maintain, troubleshoot and administer a radio-based Security Communications System (SCS) conforming to the UN standards, through the Let’s Comm training syllabus.

Learning Objectives

During and after the training, participants will be able to:

  • Plan and deliver an effective radio-based SCS training with theoretical and practical sessions, based on the Let’s Comm training syllabus.
  • Create a positive learning environment that supports reaching the Let’s Comm training objectives.
  • Deliver theoretical and practical classroom sessions.
  • Deliver virtual classroom sessions and support the online learning path of the Let’s Comm training.

Format and Language

Participants will complete self-study modules (eLearning) and attend live online sessions, followed by interactive classroom sessions covering both theoretical and practical subjects. The course will be delivered in English.
