The Let's Comm refresher course provides participants an opportunity to refresh knowledge and skills from a previously attended Let’s Comm course.
The course will be delivered in a blended format, combining different (online) delivery methods with practical assignments to be completed by participants in their own work environment.
Target Audience
The Let's Comm refresher course is targeted at humanitarian ICT staff with a telecommunications focus who need to refresh their skills in deploying VHF radio infrastructure. Participants need to already have completed a full Let’s Comm course in the past.

Course Objective
Refresh participants’ knowledge and key skills to install, maintain, troubleshoot and administer a radio-based Security Communications System (SCS) conforming to the UN standards.
Learning objectives
During and after the course, participants will be able to:
Program ICOM and Motorola end-user radios according to the UN SCS VHF/UHF standards, using standard codeplugs. |
Assign callsigns and SelV IDs to users based on the standard UN Callsign Allocation Sheet. |
Manage a VHF / UHF radio network as a radio network controller. |
Support end-users to access services on the radio network. |
Install, maintain and troubleshoot VHF / UHF repeater systems, including programming, duplexer tuning and testing according to the UN SCS VHF / UHF standards, using standard codeplugs. ** |
Install, maintain and troubleshoot VHF / UHF base radio systems, including programming and testing according to the UN SCS VHF / UHF standards, using standard codeplugs. ** |
Maintain and troubleshoot VHF / UHF mobile radio systems, including programming and testing, according to the UN SCS VHF / UHF standards, using standard codeplugs. ** |
Perform a technical assessment of VHF / UHF repeater and base radio system sites based on a standard assessment checklist. ** |

* Note, this course is a refresher and prior knowledge and experience of the topics covered is a pre-requisite to attend. These topics will not be covered in-depth during this course.
Format and Language
This will be a blended learning programme with a mix of self-paced e-modules, virtual classroom sessions, practical assignments. The course and all materials will be delivered in English.
