Indonesia Hit with 7.5 Magnitude Earthquake and Tsunami

A devastating 7.5 magnitude earthquake and tsunami hit the Indonesian island of Sulawesi on Friday 28 September. As many as 300 000 people live in the area where the series of earthquakes struck. Power and telecommunications remain out in several areas around Palu, the capital of central Sulawesi. Reports of landslides, floods and massive infrastructure damages, including at Palu airport, have impacted access for relief agencies.

The Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC) is monitoring the situation. As of now, the Government of Indonesia has not requested for international assistance.
