The Marshall Islands are experiencing an extended internet outage due to repair work on the submarine fibre optic that connects the country to fast internet. Very limited services are available to prioritised users over backup satellite links. The repair work started on 28 December 2016 and was expected to complete by 8 January 2017, however, the outage has been extended due to challenges faced during the repairs.
