Highlights
- A new ETC site has been established in Old Fangak (Jonglei State).
- The ETC organised an IT emergency equipment fair in Juba last week.
- Due to funding constraints and prioritisation needs, the ETC will deactivate three data connectivity sites by the end of July.
Achievements
- The ETC continues to support 24x repeater sites and 15x Communications Centres, including the 10 state capitals and Abyei, for the provision of security telecommunications services. On-site as well as remote ICT support services are being provided to 9x data connectivity sites across the country.Achievements
- In Old Fangak (Jonglei State), a new ETC site has been established. Reliable internet connectivity is now available to all humanitarians responding in this area. The Inter-Cluster Working Group (ICWG) identified this as a priority location for emergency response.
- In Mingkaman (Lakes State), the faulty data connectivity equipment has been replaced at the Agency for Technical Cooperation and Development (ACTED) hub. All humanitarians responding in this area are now able to access data connectivity services.
- The ETC, as the inter-agency coordinating body, organised an IT emergency equipment fair in Juba, engaging its partners in South Sudan. It was a great opportunity for all participants to showcase the latest technologies selected for their organization and learn from their colleagues.
- In Bentiu (Unity State), a three-week mission to provide on-site ICT support to all humanitarians and improve the data connectivity services is ongoing. The ETC guarantees a constant presence in this area to promptly respond to the high emergency telecommunications needs.
- The ETC continues to provide radio programming services to humanitarian partners in South Sudan.
