In the words of: Marianne Donven

Directorate for Development Cooperation of the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign Affairs

"The solution we have developed provides satellite communications and voice connectivity to humanitarian workers in the field. It is a global public good that Luxembourg Government has put at the disposal of the humanitarian community to improve communications, coordination and safety in the field.

When operating in such remote areas, there is nothing that can help you if you have a technical problem. You have to make sure you’re completely independent and bring along everything you may need for possible repairs or technical problems. You cannot count on purchasing any spare parts locally. Luckily we can rely on our remote support team in many cases.

We could really see in the field how useful this solution is and we received positive feedback from NGOs. This system is a big improvement in their working conditions. Before they had to drive a few hundred kilometers if they had an attachment to send. This system is also invaluable for their own safety and reporting home if anything happens."
