One month on: Connectivity restoration in Jamaica

One month since Hurricane Melissa struck the Caribbean, the Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC) continues to provide critical ICT coordination and connectivity support across affected parishes in Jamaica.

With the collaboration of partners Cisco Crisis Response, Ericsson Response, emergency.lu, Télécoms Sans Frontières (TSF), and Vodafone Foundation, 64 sites have been powered with internet access, reaching more than 24,000 users.

Among these, a school in Darliston, Westmoreland Parish, is now connected just in time for exams, ensuring uninterrupted access for both students and teachers. This milestone highlights the importance of reliable connectivity in supporting education and community resilience in the aftermath of disaster.
