Interagency ICT efforts in the Caribbean following Hurricane Beryl

🌀 Since Hurricane Beryl tore across the Caribbean in early July 2024, interagency #CT efforts have supported national government response ― coordinated by the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA) ― to restore communications on impacted islands. 📡

A WFP ICT coordinator was on the ground from 03 July to 10 August to support:

Rapid assessment of telecom needs on the heavily hit Union Island in St Vincent & the Grenadines

Assisted set-up of CDEMA satellite data connectivity at the Emergency Operations Centre in Kingstown

Restoration of telecoms on Union Island and St Vincent & the Grenadines alongside WFP Standby Partners from Ericsson Response

Set up of shared internet services at a Government shelter on Union Island
